- Medicare Advantage (also known as “Part C”) is an “all in one” alternative to Original Medicare. These “bundled” plans include Part A, Part B, and usually Part D. Most plans offer extra benefits Original Medicare doesn’t cover–like vision, hearing, dental, and more.
MA and MAPD: What is the difference?
Simply put: A Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan (MAPD) includes Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage and a Medicare Advantage plan (MA) plan does not include drug coverage.
Most MAs and MAPDs have healthcare networks and you may need to visit doctors (or other healthcare providers) who are part of the Medicare Advantage plan network - or be prepared to pay a higher coverage cost.
